Mmabolela, a 6500 Ha nature reserve nestled on the Limpopo River, South Africa’s border with Botswana. A sonic landscape unencumbered by the distractions of our modern age. Over extended periods of listening, unique elements expose themselves as a calling cards for the area. Home to a wide array of wildlife, including hippo, crocodiles, zebra, giraffe, and an extensive variety of bird and insect life, Mmabolela presents environmental sound matter unlike any else in the world. This piece explores the interaction of such sound matter, captured from a two week residency on the terrain, through multi-channel performance.
