Ghosts as aural phenomena. This piece explores a representation of sonic events that may have happened within Richmond, VA’s old Pump House found at Byrd Park. As water seeps through the cracks in its 19th century Gothic Revival, the Pump House plays tricks on our ears. The continuous flow of dripping water slowly morphs into the voices of “ghosts” from a previous life, voices that may have partaken in the parties held on the open air dance above the main pump room.
This piece was originally scored for a high density spatial audio in a 150 speaker array and premiered at Cube Fest 2017.
